Doug Taylor: sculptor and installation artist
Canadian artist and designer Doug Taylor makes large scale public art works that have folk art sensibilities but exploit hi-tech mechanics - whimsical, joyful and engaging sculptures. Here’s an opportunity to see how he approaches a commission, drawing on a site’s history and identity, and blending in idiosyncratic thinking. For design students and general public alike.

First Tuesday:
Nearly every first Tuesday in a month is the Hub's open house.
The Hub’s doors are open from 8.00pm until late for the popular monthly free acoustic evening hosted by artsNK’s Contemporary Music Worker Maurice Mulligan. Entry as always is free for musicians and audience alike. Performers just need to turn up on the night and make themselves known to Maurice. The bar will open serving wine, bottled beers, soft drinks, tea and coffee.
A great way to spend an evening, listening to local singers and players.
First Tuesday is also home to Hub Writers, a group of inspired writers in a great diversity of genres and at different stages of creative devlopment, and the University of the Third Age’s cinema night, showing movies chosen by members.
