Painterly Linocut onto Board with Peter Clayton

During this experimental day workshop Pete will show you how to create painterly linocuts onto board. You will learn how to transfer your chosen imagery onto a lino block and cut using specialist tools to create a multitude of marks to add depth and texture to your prints. Using hardboard as your printing surface you will paint using acrylic to create a variety of expressive and colourful backgrounds which you will then print onto with your linoblock.
Carborundum Prints with Henrietta Corbett

Carborundum like you have never seen before! Using metal plates, carborundum grit and black acrylic paint, Henrietta will show you how to create intensely rich imagery with expressive painterly lines. Used largely by artists such as Hughie O’Donaghue, this type of carborundum is both a versatile and immediate way to produce stunning prints and is perfect for the painterly printmaker’s amongst you.
Industrial Intaglio Prints with Justin Sanders
Saturday 1 March 2008. 10am-4pm, £45
On this day course Justin will show you how to create a multitude of marks using industrial methods, in addition to traditional. You will work using abrasive materials such as a dremil drill, sandpaper and wire wool to create rich tonal areas and interesting surfaces to print from. Using a mixture of drill bits you can create a variety of marks which generate raw, fresh lines, ultimately producing exciting and spontaneous imagery to print from. You will learn how to ink a plate, proof and print, in addition to different colour inking techniques.
Collagraph and Collage with Liza Lee
Sunday 9 March 2008. 10am-4pm, £45
On this day course Liza will show you the versatile technique of collagraph - with a twist! You will learn how to create distinctive prints, layering collage materials such as tissue paper, dress patterns and text onto your print and incorporate ‘chine colle’ and ‘a la poupee’ inking into the printing process. This addition to the collagraph technique enables you to produce ‘unique’ prints, which are rich in tone and expressive and vibrant in colour.

A highly respected textile artist with public art works in major public building, Kate has a command of imagery of great value to other textile artists. The workshop will focus on Composition, Spatial arrangement and Placement with cutwork techniques in the creation of a layered cutwork textile, from existing patterned fabrics. A well constructed workshop. Includes a buffet lunch and wine.
Are you a Wild Woman? With Sarah Lawrence

An opportunity to make some wild women using dry felting techniques in the company of a skilled maker. Participants will leave the workshop with several ladies, loads of ideas. Techniques used will include hand stitching, simple beading and innovative ways to create the women. An opportunity to see the works featured in a forthcoming book Wild Women.
Sheet metal and sculpting with Giles Corby

The rescheduled course from November 2007, simple but incredibly effective techniques for turning small scale sculptural ideas into real forms through the working of mild steel sheet that can be treated to yield interesting colours and surfaces.
